MARKETING THING:
Yesterday, I got early access to Peacock Premium, a new streaming service by NBCUniversal. So far, there’s not much to report.
The platform made waves by announcing last year that it would be the exclusive home of The Office starting January 1, 2021 as well as a slate of original programming, including reboots of Punky Brewster and Saved By The Bell.
As for what’s there now, there’s a limited amount of programming, which is to be expected for a platform that technically is still in beta. There’s a boatload of the classic NBC shows you’d expect like Cheers, Parks & Recreation, and Law & Order: SVU and a random assortment of films, some classic (Jurassic Park, Do The Right Thing) and some real turds (American Psycho 2, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry).
I started digging around about the service and how they were working their advertising. I’m forever fascinated by how streaming works with advertisers and this story paints a nice picture into what that landscape looks like today.
NBCUniversal’s Peacock has a buffer against ad slowdown with launch partners — here’s why they signed up
